In an exciting encounter at home ground in Hünenberg-Zug, Cricket Verein Zug (CVZ) emerged triumphant, clinching a nail-biting 4-wicket victory against Basel CC Colts (BCC) in Pickwick T20 League match.
Opting to bat first, BCC battled hard to post a competitive total of 128 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Omar Shinwari (28) and Sai Kumar (18) showcased glimpses of brilliance, but the crafty Saurabh Verma (3/24) from CVZ's bowling attack wreaked havoc, denting BCC's scoring rate. Ranjith Ramkrishanan, Ankush Hasani kept picking up wickets in tandem whereas Jithesh Godi was consistent with his line and was very economical. CVZ's Young debutant Ishan Pawaskar showed great promise with his fielding and bowling skills.
The second innings witnessed an enthralling chase as CVZ's Ranjith Ramakrishnan (35) and Ankush Hasani (11) provided explosive opening start of 48 runs in 5.5 overs. But BCC came back well with their seamers Hamid and Connor Walden claiming two quick wickets each. CVZ reduced to 75 for 6 halfway through. Two stalwarts of CVZ Yogesh Gawande (35*), and Saurabh Verma (21*) orchestrated a valiant partnership. Amidst moments of tension and excitement, Yogesh and Saurabh showed nerves of steel steering CVZ ship toward victory with seven balls to spare. Their courageous batting display applauded by everyone on the field.
Saurabh and Yogesh both were awarded as Man of the Match for their efforts in the field with batting and fielding.
